When I started using AI in my dev tools, GitHub Copilot Inline was king.

"Vibe coding" wasn't a term yet.

We were just developers with a particularly good autocomplete.

Today it's hard to tell the real from the noise. Some prophesy the end of software engineering as a profession; others, the bubble bursting.

Here's my field report — three years in, and 500,000 lines of code edited through Cursor.
